Junior doctors’conflict: Proposal targeted at breaking deadlock

A proposition targeted at breaking the deadlock in the junior physicians’ conflict through fresh talks has been made by 22 medical colleges and professors. They want planning for the enforcing of brand-new junior physicians’ contracts in England to be postponed for 5 days. In return, the British Medical Association is asked to suspend for five days any brand-new threats of strikes. The BMA stated it was prepared to agree, but the federal government said it was far too late to suspend bringing the contracts in. Nevertheless, the “door remains open” for talks, the Department of Health said. The colleges’ joint declaration, calling for exactly what it calls a pause in the dispute so talks can resume, has been put out under the umbrella of the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges.
