VA deals with clients’impatience with scientific pharmacists MADISON, Wis.– Something amazing has happened in the previous year to outpatient treatment at the Veterans Affairs hospital here. Vets regularly get next-day as well as same-day visits for medical care now, no longer waiting a month or more to see a physician as lots of as soon as did. The reason is they don’t all see doctors. Scientific pharmacists– whose unique training permits them to prescribe drugs, order lab tests, make recommendations to experts and do physical examinations– are managing more clients’ chronic care requirements. That releases physicians to focus on brand-new clients and others with complicated needs.
