The Medical Council of India (MCI) has decided not to acknowledge numerous PG degrees granted by the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Science (NEIGRIHMS) under the association of North Eastern Hill University. The post-graduate committee of MCI has chosen to put different medical degrees conferred by NEIGRIHMS under ‘not to identify’ list. Expert cardiologist Dr Sumit Basu was operating at Lewisham Hospital when he is declared to have devoted the five alleged sex offenses.
